FAQ

  • Who is this program for?

Deeply Deschooling is for parents (and grand-parents!) that feel confused about how to navigate the process of unlearning dysfunctional and outdated conditioning and learning how to build consent-based and authentic relationships where kids' learning can thrive. If you're unsure of what your role as a school free parent is, and are struggling to find a balance between supporting autonomy and setting boundaries this is where you'll get the support you need.

  • What topics do you cover?

The content of the program is partly pre-defined (based upon our experience in what we see parents struggle with), partly co-created with the partcipants depending on your needs. Some of the content is pre-recorded, and the sessions include a balanced mix of reflection in small breakout groups, larger group shares and hot seats - 1:2 individual coaching.

  • What do you support us with?

We help you to develop more collaborative, equitable relationships with your kids and family, through letting go of power and control while learning how to trust your kids more. This is fundamental in order to create a context in which kids can learn and develop their autonomy and agency.

  • What will I learn?

You get the tools to create authentic ways of relating and communicating with your kids; build a family culture based on consent and empowerment; support the autonomy and agency in your kids... All of which constitutes the basis for a solid learning environment. You are accountable for your own learning, and we ask that you self-direct your process.

  • What's your role in the program?

Our job is to support you by holding space, listening, mirroring and sometimes challenging limiting thoughts or beliefs. We provide you with concrete tools in order to navigate your deschooling process with more ease. We also share our experience, knowledge, knowhow and expertise in order to help you move from where you're stuck to where you want to go. That being said, you will get out what you put in. In other words, the outcome will depend on your own efforts, commitment to the process and willingness to do the deep work.

Testimonials

“What I loved about this program is that no matter how long you've been on the journey of deschooling, this program can expand your understanding and challenge you to evaluate even more how our world oppresses young people. Becka and Sari bring their wealth of knowledge and expertise to facilitate these sessions with vulnerability and intentionality. I have my own children and also work in an SDE space and this program was beneficial for me in thinking about my role in both realms. I feel like Deeply Deschooling has given me more tools and understanding of my own triggers and my childhood. All the young people in my care will be affected by my ability to think better about myself and the young people as we live life together!”

Michelle

“Before Deeply Deschooling I was struggling with trusting the self-directed education process; not fully understanding the extent of deschooling; lacking in community/people to talk with around it. Hearing others' perspectives has been really helpful, as well as the always deep and pertinent insights from Sari and Becka. I feel more grounded in this space and in my body in relation to this work. The specific tools we worked with around connecting somatically to important words/concepts was especially meaningful and helpful. I now feel like I have a stronger commitment and awareness of trusting this process in my body.”

Rosemary

“I feel both grateful for and extremely satisfied with all the support I've received during the Deeply Deschooling program. It's an experience that have left me feeling fully alive, totally connected to myself and everyone else around me. I'm so grateful to finally have had the opportunity to experience true vulnerability, authenticity, curiosity, diversion, creativity and infinite play! Thank you Sari and Becka for guiding me in my process and showing me how to become free.”

Daniela

“I feel so incredibly grateful for all of the things I've learned from you and all the support I've gotten through the Deeply Deschooling coaching program. It has been tremendously helpful. I can see where I used to be, and where I am now, and it's such a different place. The deschooling work is so radical and requires so much courage that if I hadn't had all that support, I wouldn't have been in a good place right now. But I am because of everything I've learned! Thank you so much!”

Liz

“Sari and Becka helped me in understanding myself better - how I was wounded and why. Now I’m more capable of actually having deeper conversations with my kids. I listen better to them, while also learning how to express myself with them. Before, I never asked my kids for consent. I just imposed myself and never really talked to them about “real” things. I used to judge them a lot. Now, I know how to observe them with curiosity. I feel so much more confident in my role as a parent!”

Valeria

“Before Deeply Deschooling I was struggling with wanting to change everything around me. During the program, I realized that what I really needed to change were things within myself. My deschooling process led me to start making small changes - and many small changes make a big difference! I’ve let go of trying to control things beyond my control. Sari's and Becka’s lived experiences (from a place of openness and fullness) proved to be a far better support than I could have ever imagined.”
